Biomedical Waste Management Categories GOVERNMENT STANDARD
As per the Biomedical Waste Management Rules, proper segregation of waste into color-coded categories is mandatory for all healthcare facilities.

Yellow coloured non-chlorinated Plastic Bags
For storage and disposal of infectious and hazardous biomedical waste
Note: Chemical waste (yellow-e) comprising of un-used, residual or date expired liquid chemicals including spent hypo of X-Ray, should be stored in yellow container.

Red Category
|
|
Red Coloured Non Chlorinated Plastic Bags & Containers
Thickness equal to or more than 50 µ. Used for contaminated recyclable waste.

White Category
|
|
White Coloured Translucent Containers
Puncture proof, leak proof, tamper proof containers for safe disposal of sharps and metals.

Blue Category
|
|
Blue Marked Containers & Boxes
Puncture proof, leak proof boxes or containers with blue coloured marking. Cardboard Box with Blue marking.
